ISLAMABAD- Entering into a new era of media collaboration between Pakistan and China and expanding the family of Pakistan-China Media Friendship Association, The Daily Mail, Pakistan and Yunnan Daily Press Group of China’s Yunnan Province, signed an historic accord of bilateral collaboration, news exchange and exchange of journalists here othererday.

Signing ceremony of professional collaboration between The Daily Mail and China’s Yunnan Daily Press Group. Yunnan Daily has become the latest member of Pakistan-China Media Friendship Association.

The agreement was signed by President, publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail and Chairman of Pakistan-China Media Friendship Association Mr. Makhdoom Babar and by Mr. Wang Xufei, Director of Comments section of Yunnan Daily Press Group. The Yunnan Daily Press Group had come as a delegation, comprising   Mr. Wang Xufei, Director of Comments/editorial section ,Mr .Zhang Tong, Deputy Director of Photography Department, Mr. Yang Zhihui, Reporter, Mr. Zu Hongbing, Reporter and Ms.Lian Huiling Reporter of The Spring City.

At the occasion, Mr. Makhdoom Babar said that it was a great moment for him as the family of the Pak-China joint media body, Pakistan-China Media Friendship Association that he formed at Beijing in 2005 had expanded up to Yunnan Province in the 10th year. He said that it was a great honor for The Daily Mail to sign accord of professional collaboration with Yunnan Daily Press Group as this move was expected to bring more knowledge for Pakistanis about the people and social culture of Yunnan province as earlier there was not much information available in Pakistan and the media had mainly been focusing on Beijing and Shanghai. “Earlier this year we signed a similar agreement with Guangzhou Daily Media Group in March at the eve of the First Pakistan-China Media Forum and now with Yunnan Daily Press Group. These moves would enable us to bring maximum information and updated knowledge about people of Guangdong Province and Yunnan Province apart from Beijing and Shanghai, asserted Mr. Makhdoom. He said that as a professional Editor, he was very optimistic that such agreements would contribute a lot to the success of mega projects like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and One Belt-One Road. He was of the firm opinion the initiatives like agreement between The Daily Mail and Yunnan Daily Press Group were going to be very effective for the promotion and pushing of CPEC in coming years. He highly appreciated the high standards of journalism that Yunnan Daily Press Group was maintaining and thanked the management of Yunnan Group for sending a highly prestigious delegation of true professionals to Pakistan on The Daily Mail’s invitation to hold interviews over CPEC and One Belt-One Road. He said The Daily Mail had put in all its efforts with all the sincerity to organize the visiting Chinese delegation’s professional activities and meetings so that they could take maximum and most relevant information back to China for subsequent knowledge of the Chinese readers. “ I had directed my team to organize all the interaction of Yunnan Daily Press Group’s delegation at the highest levels and with maximum outputs and I appreciate the efforts of my team in this regard. He said since the time was too short and it was the month of Ramadan much was left unexplored and untouched, said Mr. Makhdoom

In his remarks, the head of the Chinese delegation Mr. Wang Xufei, said that he was very much impressed by the arrangement, warmth and level of engagements, organized by The Daily Mail for their delegation. He said the way the delegation was received and treated in Pakistan; it was very much beyond the expectations of him and members of his delegation. “I and my delegation now have very clear perception as to why Pakistan and China are called iron Brothers and what is the actual depth and myth of China-Pakistan friendship. It is really the power of people behind this relation of exemplary friendship and so was proved by The Daily Mail and its team and Editor-in-Chief and all the Pakistanis that we interacted with during our visit. He said that from a waiter of the hotel up to the federal Minister and from a police constable to the Chief of Police, every Pakistani made us  feel like VVIPs and very warmly welcomed  and honored gusts,” said Mr. Wang. He said that he and his team were extremely happy over signing MoU of professional collaboration with The Daily Mail and that they were part of this historic accord. He said that the management of Yunnan daily Press Group chose The Daily Mail to arrange media collaboration  and professional partnership in Pakistan because The Daily Mail has over the years proved to be a real friend of China and a sincere media body with abilities to deliver to the cause of  China-Pakistan relations. He said that  his organization and he personally were very much sure that this agreement would be very effective for the promotion of people to people contacts between Pakistani and Chinese people and would also play a very vital role for the enhancement of CPEC and One Belt-One Road. He thanked Thy Daily Mail and all its team members for organizing the visit in the most befitting manner.

The Daily Mail’s team that assisted Mr. Makhdoom Babar at the agreement signing ceremony included Mr. Asghar Ali Mubarak Mr. Shakeel Ahmad, Mr. Moneeb Junior and Mr. Ishfaque Sajid besides others.
