ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ’یہ جو اسرائیلی حملے ہیں یہ صرف غزہ تک کی محدود نہیں ہیں بلکہ اس کا دائرہ کار بہت زیادہ بڑھا دیا گیا ہے‘۔ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ ’اقوام متحدہ کی جانب سے یہ جو اعدادوشمار دیے گئے ہیں، کئی آزاد ذرائع کے مطابق شہادتوں کی تعداد اس سے کئی زیادہ ہے‘۔ جلیل عباس جیلانی کے مطابق اقوام متحدہ نے بتایا ہے کہ ’غزہ میں اب تک تقریباً ساڑھے 8 ہزار فلسطینی شہید ہوچکے ہیں جس میں ساڑھے تین ہزار بچے شامل ہیں، تقریبا 25 ہزار سے زیادہ فلسطینی اس وقت زخمی حالت میں ہیں اور وہاں کے تقریباً 222 اسکولوں سمیت ایک لاکھ 80 ہزار کے قریب مکانات بھی تباہ ہوگئے ہیں۔‘ سینیٹ سے خطاب میں ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ ’نہ وہاں پر بجلی ہے نہ پانی ہےاور نہ خوراک موجود ہے، ہسپتالوں پر اب تک 35، 36 اسرائیلی حملے ہو نے کی وجہ سے وہاں کے لوگوں کا کوئی پرسان حال نہیں، جو زخمی ہیں ان کی تیمارداری کرنے والا کوئی نہیں اور نہ ہی ان کے علاج کے لیے سہولیات موجود ہیں۔‘

غزہ کی وزارت صحت نے بتایا ہے کہ اسرائیل کی جانب سے 7 اکتوبر کو شروع کی گئی بمباری سے تاحال 8 ہزار 796 افراد جاں بحق ہوگئے
