PHF grieved over passing away of Mrs Air Marshal Nur Khan

Rawalpindi: President PHF, Brig (rtd) Muhammad Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and Secretary PHF, Shahbaz Ahmad have expressed their profound grief over the demise of Farhat Nur Khan, wife of late Air Marshal Nur Khan.

 

Pakistan hockey achieved great feats during Air Marshal Nur Khan’s two tenures as the president PHF (1967-69 and 1976-84). The green shirts won all the major titles: Olympics, World Cup and Asian Games.

 

Nur Khan was also the person credited with the introduction of hockey World Cup as well as Champions Trophy. Meanwhile the Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman expressed deep sorrow on the sad demise of Begum Farhat Nur Khan, wife of late Air Marshal Nur Khan, who breathed her last on Tuesday in Karachi after prolonged illness. Her funeral followed by burial would be held at her native town.

The air chief paid tribute to the services of the distinguished Begum Farhat. He further said that services and contribution of late Begum Farhat in the field of education and Pakistan Air Force Women Association (PAFWA) would never be forgotten and she would always be remembered as a beacon of light and source of inspiration for the generations to come.

Begum Farhat was a passionate social worker and philanthropist envisioned to tap the unexplored talent of women in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and laid the foundation of PAFWA in 1965. The main objective of this organisation is to shape the social, educational, and personal lives of female community in the PAF.

Air Marshal Nur got married to Begum Farhat in 1952. She stood shoulder to shoulder through thick and thin, providing care and happiness, bringing up the children in the best possible manner. They are blessed with four children, a son Mansoor Khan and three daughters, Sima Bibi, Nighat Bibi and Faiqa Bibi.
