Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig was injured when a rock hit her, whilst she was climbing K2, the Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig gets hit with a rock during K2 expedition. She was jumping over a rock when she lost her balance and hit a sharp rock, injuring herself. She had to be evacuated back to base camp. ISLAMABAD: The daughter of Pakistan and mountaineer Samina Baig has been injured during climbing K-2 peak.

According to details, Samina Baig was engaged in reaching the peaks of the second highest mountain of the world K-2, during which she injured her knee. Samina Baig and her brother Ali Mirza have waived Pakistani flag on the highest peaks of mountains in seven continents within eight months time. Samina Baig has the honors to be the first Pakistani woman to achieve the highest peaks of seven continents. Samina, who was the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest, was climbing to camp-2 on K-2 for acclimatization as part of her summit attempt.It is unclear how serious her injuries are and whether she would be able to continue with her expedition. Samina Baig was the third Pakistani to climb Mount Everest and the only Pakistani woman ever to achieve the feat. The Pakistani mountaineer is these days on the quest to conquer the towering K2 this summer. However, Baig was injured whilst climbing as a rock hit her.TheK2, also known as Chhogori/Qogir, Ketu/Kechu, and Mount Godwin-Austen, is the second highest mountain in the world at 8,611 meters, after Mount Everest. Being a professional climber since 2009, Samina has always been fond of climbing. She has been a professional climber since 2009 and has been employed as a mountain guide and expedition leader in the Hindu Kush and the peaks of Karakoram. On 19th May 2013, Samina Baig made headlines when she climbed atop Mount Everest on 19th May 2013 with Indian twin girls  Tashi and Nungshi Malik. It was a historic moment for the world to witness when they planted the national flags of their countries India and Pakistan side by side, atop Mount Everest. Her brother Mirza Ali also frequently accompanies her on her climbing expeditions.Last week, Samina and Mirza had climbed to camp 1 with a view to head on to Camp 2. But heavy snow on the mountain forced them to go downwards instead of moving up.
